2019 SPARK Pre-Conference
Tuesday, January 15, 2019
IPAY’s SPARK Pre-Conference program is a full-day of conversation and idea sharing prior to the full Showcase experience. SPARK has been designed to provide a smaller-scale meeting place for regional, national and international artists, presenters, educators and practitioners in the field of young audiences. The program is intended to create space for a concentrated investigation of new ideas, challenges, and innovation in the field.
SPARK 2019 kicked off the KINDLING focus by diving into what IMPACT means to us as professionals working to create, present and support performing arts from an artistic and educational perspective. How do we remove barriers and borders to work more collaboratively to impart true impact on our audiences, through our art, education and community engagement? What does impact look like and how do we tell when it has been achieved?
Participants engaged with colleagues from the United States, Canada and around the world through a mix of keynote and panel presentation, open dialogue and round table discussion, and hands-on workshop. After a collective opening gathering, attendees chose from multiple SPARK sessions for a full day of learning, reflection and growth.
