Andy Packer

Board of Directors


Andy Packer is a director of theatre, music theatre and opera. He has also worked as creative producer of multidisciplinary arts programs, producer of large-scale outdoor events and festival director.

In 2007 Andy co-founded Adelaide based theatre company Slingsby. Through his work with this company and others Andy has become respected nationally and internationally as a creator with a unique vision for theatre for family and adult audiences. In the past eight years Slingsby has toured to 68 theatres in 43 cities and towns across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Spain, Ireland and Norway.


Andy is a respected director of opera, musical theatre, cabaret and symphonic concerts. For Adelaide Festival 2012 he directed a fully staged production of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass conducted by Krisjtan Järvi and starring Jubilant Sykes. He has directed extensive productions for Adelaide Cabaret Festival including four Opening Variety Galas (2013-2016) through which he has had the opportunity to collaborate with many internationally renowned performing artists including Kristin Chenoweth, Molly Ringwald, Meow Meow, Kate Ceberano, Craig McLachlan, Todd McKenney, Melanie Safka, Joey Arias, Barb Jungr and Barry Humpries. Andy has also directed productions and concerts for Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, State Opera of South Australia, State Theatre Company of South Australia and Adelaide Fringe.


Andy was Creative Producer of Programming at Carclew Youth Arts 2003-2006, Creative Producer of Family Events for Adelaide Fringe Festival 2007-2008 and Creative Director of Come Out Festival 2011. Andy is a Committee Member of Arts Industry Council of South Australia.
