Title of Performance: Nadia
Country: Netherlands

Age Range: 12+
Audience size: 100–400
Performance time: 60–75 minutes

NADIA, by Daniël van Klaveren, is made for a classroom but can easily be performed in bigger venues. NADIA explores the reasons of radicalisation in Western societies. It reconstructs the days leading up to Nadia's departure for the Caliphate.

Van Klaveren: "I believe it's crucial that we keep on asking where radicalisation starts. In this turbulent period we need to know how adolescents are falling under the spell of extremist ideas. Why do these ideas give Nadia a firmer footing in the world than her life here? What is it exactly that she's looking for? This play is less about the excesses or possible outcomes of radicalisation than it is about its origins. When, where and how are the first seeds planted?"
